‘The Hive’ to Transform Downtown Kamloops
The downtown core of Kamloops will soon be transformed for the first time since 2007 by local developers A&T Project Developments Inc. and Invictus Properties Inc. The development group is proud to announce their plans for “THE HIVE KAMLOOPS”, a new real estate development that will become the premier business district of downtown Kamloops. Spanning between 5th and 6th Avenues along side Lansdowne Street to the north, the vision for this master planned development is to transform the area into a blend of premium office and retail space that will enrich our downtown core with a vibrant energy, attracting the best and brightest business leaders to Kamloops.
“The Hive development marks a new chapter for our City and will continue the revitalization of downtown Kamloops. The building and vision for the site will create new business opportunities for companies based in and out of Kamloops, showcasing the quality of life we enjoy in our City.” – Mayor Ken Christian
The first phase of THE HIVE KAMLOOPS will be located on the corner of 5th Avenue and Lansdowne Street, and be Kamloops’ first premium office building. The new building has been carefully designed reflecting the needs of the local business community with private balconies, large windows for ample natural light and modern building systems to improve productivity. The building will be 5 storeys, 45,000 square feet of office and retail space and include two levels of secure, underground parking. With a blend of contemporary and innovative office/retail space, the building will target progressive organizations who value sustainability, collaborative spaces and convenient amenities. As THE HIVE KAMLOOPS vision is fully realized, it will address the City’s goals for a vibrant downtown with spaces designed to meet the needs of the community. The transformation of this city block will begin immediately with construction targeting a spring start.
“Investment in new office space in the downtown core has not occurred in more than a decade, today that changed with the announcement of The Hive. This new office construction will continue the redevelopment of the downtown core and help to diversify our economy. The Hive has the opportunity to create hundreds of new jobs in the downtown core and will keep our downtown vibrant. The recent changes to the revitalization tax exemption bylaws approved by Council contributed to the decision to move the vision for The Hive from a yellow light to a green light. I believe this announcement is just the beginning and I look forward to many more new commercial developments in the downtown and the north shore in the coming years” – Councillor Mike O’Reilly
